It is aways a fantastic occassion to play the Stanley CC. Graeme managed to perform admirably to gain an impressive win in the T20 match. Stankey scored an imposing 172/ 6 in their 20 over after a rocky start. Kyle van Niekerk was outstanding, scoring 71 off 61. Simon Amm (38 off 20) and Brandon Handley (48* off 26) then put Graeme to the sword, as they set and impressive target. Andrew Muir was the pick of the Graeme bowlers, claiming 3 for 20.
In reply, Enrique Strydom was sublime. He and Corbin Tidbury were recently selected into the CSA Invitational team to play in the Khaya Majola Cricket Week later in the year. The two combined for an impressive partnership; but with Tidbury fell for 30 off 25, there was so much for Graeme to still do. Luphelo Mdyesha scored and inpressive 35 off 25 balls. Jordan Damons played a crucial cameo scoring 20* off 7 balls to get Graeme closer. But it was Strydom, who scored 91 off 54 balls, which set the tone for the innings. A sublime knock, worthy of beating Stanley on the day! Graeme won by 6 wickets in the last over.
More good news was that our coach, Mr Xonxa, was also selected to be the assistant coach of the CSA Invitational team. Also well deserved!!!
