The Grade 11 Tourism learners recently had an exciting and educational outing in Gqeberha, where they gained valuable insight into the tourism and hospitality industry.
The day began with a guided tour of the Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport, where learners observed the check-in process and explored the arrivals and departure terminals. They also had the opportunity to view the range of vehicles available at the various car rental companies and learn about the parking facilities provided for travelers.
One of the highlights of the outing was a visit to the airport’s control room facilities. Learners were thrilled to go up into the control tower, where they witnessed first-hand how airport operations are managed.
The day concluded with a tour of The Beach Hotel. Here, the learners explored various hotel facilities, including a selection of guest rooms, the pool area, and both the fine dining and buffet restaurants. This gave them a clearer understanding of the standards and services offered by high-end hospitality establishments.
A big thank you to all the staff at the Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport and The Beach Hotel for their warm hospitality and for providing our learners with such an informative and inspiring experience.
