Patrick Wisch, a Grade 5 learner, proudly represented Grahamstown Riding Club at the Eastern Cape Showing Championships held from 25th–28th September 2025. This was his very first showing competition, making his achievements all the more special.
Showing is an equestrian discipline that focuses on the presentation and movement of horse and rider. Judges assess turnout, style, and suitability for specific roles, with an emphasis on both the horse’s quality and the rider’s presentation.
Patrick took part in two classes, competing against 18 experienced adult riders. Despite being the youngest competitor, he impressed the judges and secured an excellent 4th place finish. This is a remarkable accomplishment for a first-time entrant, especially when riding against some of the top rider-and-horse combinations in the Eastern Cape.
Partnering with his horse, A Little Showtime Magic, Patrick demonstrated composure, skill, and determination in the ring. Congratulations to Patrick on this outstanding performance; everyone at Grahamstown Riding Club is excited to see what he and his horse will achieve in the future.
