The Grade 12s enjoyed their Matric Dance on Friday 26 September 2025. This long anticipated event was moved because of the preliminary examinations. The Grade 12s arrived dressed to the nines accompanied by their elegant dates. They all made their own unique entrances with various vehicles and vintage motor cars being brought out for the occasion. They entered a much altered school hall with the theme of “The Orient”. All the surfaces of the hall were covered with black, red and gold and the hall was beautifully lit with Chinese lanterns and fairy lights. Motifs of peach blossom, Chinese dragons, fans and coins abounded.
This was the message for the evening:
“In Chinese culture dragons are symbolic of power, strength and good fortune. This is our hope for you as you emerge into your exciting new futures.
Similarly, the image of the peach blossom has been used. This symbol represents love, romance, longevity, good luck and prosperity.
Everyone wants the best for you and school has prepared you well for fighting the battles of life. You now need to use these skills to forge your own path. Remember that at the core of your being that you have the strength to do anything. Do not accept second best by not working hard for what you want. The world is waiting for you to make a success of your life.”
We trust that the Grade 12s enjoyed their dance and would like to thank all the people that made it possible: the staff, the caterers and the Grade 11s waiters. Most of all, we would like to thank the parents for the support shown to their sons.
It was a truly magical evening
