Congratulations to Joshua Danilatos, a Grade 11 learner at Graeme College in Makhanda, Eastern Cape, who will represent South Africa at the International Science and Mathematics Research Competition (IMSEF) in İzmir, Türkiye from 1 to 6 June 2026.

Joshua, a Silver medal recipient at the 2025 Eskom Expo International Science Fair (ISF), will showcase his project titled “Catch-and-Release in a Warming Climate: Effects on Reflex Impairment and Stress in Rhabdosargus holubi”. His research investigated the impact of temperature on physical impairment and physiological stress in Cape stumpnose fish following simulated catch-and-release events, highlighting important environmental concerns linked to warming aquatic ecosystems and sustainable fisheries management.

Joshua is one of three young scientists benefiting from an Eskom grant to participate in the prestigious international competition through Eskom Expo for Young Scientists.
