A secial Graeme College Book!!
Published in 2002, The Courageous Leopard project was the brainchild of the then Graeme College Headmaster’s wife, Mrs Virginia Reed. The story was written for young readers about a brave and caring leopard who does some courageous things in the face of danger and adversity. The object of the story is to prompt children to find the parallels between the leopard family and their own and, in so doing, to emulate the support structure that the story illustrates.
The book was written by Mrs Virginia Reed and translated into Afrikaans and isiXhosa by other staff members of Graeme College. Being the art teacher at Graeme College at the time, Mrs Reed encouraged and supported the Grade 9 art learners as they brought the story to life with their beautifully illustrated colour paintings. Considering that the boys were 14 and 15-year-olds, what they produced is truly a remarkable set of illustrations. With English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa on each page, the intention is to have this book in the home of every Graemian family (old and new), as well as in the homes and schools of supporters and friends in multi-cultural South Africa and beyond.
