Champions at the LILYFONTEIN SENIOR 7’s TOURNAMENT!

At the conclusion of the Graeme College inter-house 7s competition, the U17 and U15 squads were selected to represent the school at the Nico Malan U17 7s Festival and the Lilyfontein U15 7s Festival, respectively.

The U17 team played some good rugby in the group stages to finish second in a tough group. They started the day with a 29–19 win over Brandwag, before going down 24–29 to Paarl Gim and then beating Humansdorp Secondary 24–12. This meant they qualified for the Cup quarter-final against Paarl Boys’. Unfortunately, the Paarl outfit, who eventually went on to win the competition, proved too strong for the Graemians, beating us 45–0.

The Graeme U15 7s team had a brilliant day, going on to win the Lilyfontein 7s Festival. In the group stages, they beat Lilyfontein 45–14 and Stirling 50–12. In the quarter-final, they beat Stutterheim 33–19, before overcoming Dale 33–31 in a nail-biter.

At the end of the day, it was Graeme vs Queens to decide who would take home the spoils. The Graeme team came out on top, winning 31–19 and claiming the Lilyfontein U15 7s Festival title.
