The U15A cricket team traveled to Queenstown for the Inaugural Queen’s College U15 Cricket Festival.

Our U15s took on Hudson Park in a T20 game on the first day.

Graeme bowled out Hudson in 14 overs, with Qhama Picane leading the charge in a spell of 5 wickets for a mere 7 runs in his alloted 4 overs. As if that was not enough, Odwa Ndlazi came on two take 4 wickets without conceding a single run, as the Graeme boys bowled Hudson out for 29runs. Graeme got to the score in 5.4 overs to win the match by 8 wickets.

Day 2 saw Graeme College take on Stirling. Stirling chose to bat first and put on a very compatible 190-10 in 49 overs . With Llunathi Twaku leading the charge with figures of 4- 41 in his 10 overs.

It was then Graeme College’s turn with the bat, and the boys showed some real grit and determination. A 70 run parternership between openening batter Leo Murray and number 3 Odwa Ndlazi saw the boys get to 91-1 after 10 overs before Leo and Odwa got out within 4 balls of each other. Stirling started to chip away with wickets falling regularly, seeing Graeme stumble to 123-7. It was at this moment when Jordan du Plesis decided to take the game to the opposition, smacking a quickfire 38 (18) to get Graeme back in the game. Captain Iminathi Mali decided to play a captain’s inning of note steering the team to victory with a 19* that was dubbed a “coming of age” inning by coaches and parents alike. Sivu Manyakanyaka then came in and put the finishing touches with some huge sixes in an innings of 31. The boys managed to get over the line in the 34th over, clinching victory by two wickets.

Well done to the boys and the three coaches Mr Sam, Mr Cekiso and Mr Draai. The weather had the final say, with the tournament being cut short two days earlier due to inclement weather.
