Team South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ enjoyed a visit to the House of the Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana Evi) near Ephesus in Selรงuk, Tรผrkiye ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท, taking time to experience one of the countryโ€™s most significant historical and spiritual landmarks.

Located on Mount Koressos (BรผlbรผldaฤŸฤฑ), the shrine is revered by both Christians and Muslims and attracts pilgrims and visitors from around the world. The site is traditionally believed to be the final home of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore Tรผrkiyeโ€™s rich history and cultural heritage.

The delegation is led by Palesa Selepe, Eskom Expo Ekurhuleni Regional Science Fair Director, and is joined by Mologadi Motshele and Unathi Pendu from Eskom Hld SOC Ltd.

The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to learn more about Tรผrkiyeโ€™s cultural and historical significance while participating in the 1923 International Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Fair (IMSEF) 2026 and engaging with young scientists from around the world.
